Have you been saying you’re going to prioritize your health for a few weeks (or months…or years) now? It’s extremely common to feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information out there about diet and exercise that prevent you from even starting. The truth is that there are a few simple steps you can take to make a big difference in your overall health. Here are five simple steps to get you started:
Get Moving: Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining good health. Start by incorporating a daily walk or jog into your routine, and gradually increase your activity level over time. Not moving a ton? Start with 5 minutes daily, then extend over time, 10 minutes, then 15, and go from there. These small changes are easy to start, keep consistent and add up over time to make a big impact.
Eat a Colorful Diet: A balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein is key to good health, but you know that. They key to actually doing it – plan ahead! Pick out your breakfast or snacks for the week so you have protein rich, fiber full, colorful foods easily on hand.
Get Enough Sleep: Adequate sleep is essential for good health. It helps with energy, mood, concentration – as well as hormone balance and stress regulation. Aim for at least seven hours of sleep per night, and establish a regular sleep schedule to help your body get into a healthy rhythm.
Manage Stress: If you’re stressed, you can’t recover and recharge – that means all that work you’re doing gets stuck behind the stress. Find ways to manage your stress: get outside, connect with friends, take a few deep breaths or give yourself 30 minutes to reset throughout the day.
Partner with a Health Coach: If you’re serious about improving your health and fitness, consider working with a coach. A coach help you set goals, create a personalized roadmap of how to get there, and provide the guidance and support you need to both get started and stay on track.
Navigating the world of health & wellness can feel like a messy, foggy soup. Working with a health coach can be a game-changer in improving your health and well-being. Here are just a few reasons why:
Personalized Roadmap: A coach can help you create a roadmap that prioritizes you, tailored to your specific needs and goals. This can help you achieve better results in less time.
Outsource the program design: One of the biggest obstacles to staying accountable is the mental effort required to plan your workouts. By outsourcing the program design, you can remove this burden from your day-to-day activities and simply focus on doing the exercises. This can help you stay consistent and make exercise a habit.
Accountability: When you work with a coach, you have someone to hold you accountable and motivate you. This can help you stay on track and progress even when you’re tired or discouraged. No more saying “I’m going to do it” – but not doing it, over and over.
Support and Encouragement: Coaches shine when things aren’t going well. Support, troubleshooting and encouragement helps bring a grounded, outside perspective when things get tough. . Knowing that you have someone in your corner can make all the difference.
Expertise: A coach has the knowledge and expertise to help you achieve your goals effectively. They can help you navigate the complexities of exercise and nutrition, and guide how to make sustainable changes to your lifestyle.
Improving your health is essential for a happy and fulfilling life. Here are a few reasons why:
Improved Physical Health: By improving your physical health, you can prevent muscle and bone density loss, which starts happening as early as 30 years old, and have the energy and stamina to do the activities you want to be doing. Your physical health also reduces your risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. You’ll also have more energy and feel better overall.
Mental Health Benefits: Good physical health is closely linked to good mental health. Improvements in brain health, depression and anxiety are all tied to healthy diets and physical activity. By taking care of your body, you can reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase your overall sense of well-being.
Increased Productivity: When you feel good physically and mentally, you’re more likely to be productive at work and in your personal life. By improving your health and well-being, you can achieve more and enjoy life to the fullest.
Longer Lifespan: By making healthy choices, you can increase your lifespan and enjoy more years of good health. You can’t stop getting older, but you can feel good as you do it!
Improving your health and well-being doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’ve felt stuck – you keep saying you’re going to start, but get overwhelmed with how far away from “ideal” you are, life gets in the way, or the inertia of day to day just takes over – you’re not alone. It’s extremely common. The trick to getting started is to start small and just get started! Pick one of these tips to focus on. Once you make progress. Pick another. Want a roadmap?
